Connecting Appalachia’s broadband profiles are designed to help government officials and private citizens understand the realities of broadband availability and the potential for broadband expansion in participating counties.
Each profile includes five full page maps that show availability, demand, population density, unserved roadways, and tentative federal funding awards. A budget page also is included that explains what it will cost to build a 40 year lifespan fiber optic network and how much subsidy is required to make that network financially sustainable.
Detailed profiles are available for the 30 counties who are represented by the Buckeye Hills Regional Council, the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission, and the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association. Single page profiles have also been included as a courtesy for the Appalachian counties who are part of the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments.
